Robb Sports Complex

Robb Sports Complex
Robb Sports Complex (Field Hockey, Lacrosse)

The Robb Sports Complex contains a regulation size field for both field hockey and lacrosse. A softball diamond is located on an adjacent area. Kraiss Field, which borders Robb Field on the north, is available as a practice area. The complex's tennis courts are located at the western portion of the facility.

The complex, which was opened in the spring of 1934, has bleacher seating for 1,000 spectators while the softball field has seating for 300. In 1991, the field underwent renovations when new bleachers were installed and the press box was refurbished. In 2003, the field received its second major improvements when a grass-like turf field was installed along with lights.

The field formerly served as home to the football, track and field, field hockey and soccer teams until 1971. In the fall of 1972, Seth Grove Stadium was opened and became the home facility for the football and track and field programs while the soccer teams continue to play at Robb Sports Complex on what is now known as David See Field.

David See Field (Men's & Women's Soccer)

David See Field is an artificial turf playing field that meets international standards measuring 120 yards by 75 yards. The field is named after the late David See of Lafayette Hills, captain of the Red Raiders’ 1971 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship team. See died in an auto accident the summer following his graduation in 1972.

Robb Field features a softball diamond with a permanent home run fence. The dimensions of Robb Field are 200 feet down the lines, 220 feet to center field and 200 feet to the power alleys. There is a ten-foot warning track before the outfield fence. Bullpen practice areas have been recently renovated and are available behind the outfield fence. The dugouts are enclosed above ground and feature benches that have been newly carpeted. The team has also installed artificial turf inside its outdoor batting cages that are located beyond the left field fence.

The playing surface is an imported bluegrass that is maintained year round by a steadfast team of Shippensburg maintenance workers. The facility is completely enclosed by a chain-link fence. The venue is a premiere site for tournament competition, as the PIAA Softball Championships are held at the venue each year with an average attendance of over 1,000 people.

Shippensburg has hosted the championships annually since 1978 with the exceptions of three years (1989, 1993, 1994). Shippensburg has also hosted the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region Softball Championships from 2003-06 as well as the 2005 PSAC Championships from Robb Field.
