2011 (Junior): Flott did not compete in cross country but was once again strong on the track. He placed sixth in the open 800 meters at the PSAC outdoor championships and during the regular season he came within .02 seconds of his PR with another NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event. Indoors, Flott earned All-America honors by running the 800-meter leg of SU’s second-place distance medley relay squad. He also anchored the 4x800-meter relay squad that won a PSAC championship and was also a PSAC indoor qualifier in the open 800 meters.
2010 (Sophomore): Redshirt season. Flott thrived on the track, where he established new indoor and outdoor PRs in the 800 meters – his specialty event. He placed in the 800 at the PSAC indoor and outdoor championship meets, taking sixth indoors and eighth outdoors. Indoors, Flott ran the opening leg of the indoor 4x800-meter relay squad that placed third at the PSAC indoor meet. His outdoor 800-meter PR was set with a second-place finish and NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the Paul Kaiser Classic. He also achieved USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
2009 (Freshman): Flott ran in two 6K races and one 8K race during his debut season with Shippensburg. He was the team’s No. 8 runner in the 6K Mountaineer Invitational. On the track, Flott was a PSAC indoor and outdoor qualifier in the 800 meters.
Phoenixville High School: Flott totaled 12 varsity letters while running for head coach Jack Kraynak. He finished in the Top 10 in the 4x800 meter relay at the Nike Indoor National Championships and was a state medalist after a fifth-place finish with his school’s 4x800-meter relay squad. On two occasions, Flott earned All-Pac 10 honors. At his conference championships, Flott twice finished as a runner-up in the open 800 while contributing to a pair of 4x800-meter relay championships.
Personal: Joel Aaron Flott is the son of Michael and Monica Flott. He is majoring in marketing.
