SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa (women's athletics fraternity) is hosting its third annual “Project Prom Dress” event. “Project Prom Dress” will be held April 14 inside Heiges Field House from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This event makes it easier for teen girls in local areas to attend their high school formals by lightening their financial burden. Tau Kappa wants to help make memories that will last a lifetime.

Last year, Project Prom Dress raised a total of $700 by selling 50 dresses and related accessories. Each of the dresses is typically  priced between $5 and $30 depending on the style. More than 100 people have attended this event in previous years.

In order to make this year just as successful, Tau Kappa is looking for donations of the following items: gently-used homecoming, bridesmaids, and prom dress, shoes, jewelry, purses, and accessories. There will be a box placed outside the administrative offices in Heiges Field House for donations.

Anyone with questions, information or potential donations can contact Tau Kappa secretary Caitlin Bamberger at cb7311@ship.edu or by phone at 484-955-7628.

Per Tau Kappa: “You can make it easier for teen girls to attend their high school formal occasions by lightening the financial burden associated with attending such events. You can help them make memories last a lifetime!”
