SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team defeated Millersville in straight sets on Tuesday night for the third time this season and secured hosting rights for the remainder of the PSAC Tournament in the process. SU's 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 victory over the Marauders sets up a 7:30 p.m. match Friday against California (Pa.).
Shippensburg (28-8) will host the PSAC Semifinals and Championship Game for the first time since 2007; it has now reached the PSAC Semifinals for the sixth time in head coach
Leanne Piscotty's 10-year tenure guiding the Raiders. SU is seeking to snap its skid of five straight semifinal losses, as the team last played for the PSAC Championship in Piscotty's inaugural season of 2004.
Senior
Jill Edwards paced the Raiders Tuesday night with 13 kills on just two errors and hit .314 from the floor. Her 12 digs constitutes her 19th double-double of the season and the 64th of her career.
The Raiders matched a season high with 13 aces in Tuesday's match and have served at least nine aces in each of their last five home matches. Sophomore
Taylor Gottshall led SU with four aces and was efficient once again, dropping six kills to just one error for a .312 hitting percentage.

Freshman
Maura Nolan provided 32 assists, six digs and three kills while senior
Samantha Edwards was strong off the bench – ripping six kills and hitting .267.
Shippensburg totaled eight blocks in the contents – as sophomore
Faith Athey paced the squad with one block solo and five block assists. Nolan had three block assists, while
Samantha Edwards and Gottshall each had two.
Freshman
Gabbie Holt had three service aces, while fellow freshman
Maria Peluso had two aces and contributed 10 digs.
Friday's other PSAC Semifinal will take place at 5 p.m. and feature UPJ (East No. 2 seed) and Gannon (West No. 4 seed).
