LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – With a 3-0 victory over Ohio Valley on Saturday afternoon at the 2008 Bob Chu Invitational, Lady Raider volleyball coach Leanne Piscotty became the school's career wins leader while Shippensburg closed out the weekend with its seventh consecutive win. Piscotty recorded her 106th career coaching victory, surpassing the previous career mark of 105 set by inaugural Lady Raider coach Robert Frazer from 1980-1985.
Shippensburg (9-5) opened its competition Saturday by outlasting C.W. Post in five sets by game scores of 25-16, 25-15, 15-25, 22-22, 15-8. The Lady Raiders followed with the victory over the Fighting Scots by game scores of 25-24, 25-12, 25-22.
Against C.W. Post, junior outside hitter Colleen Toomey recorded nine kills, five digs, three service aces and three block assists. Junior outside hitter Hannah Sorber ripped 10 kills and recorded two block assists. Junior middle blocker Kali Antolik had 11 kills, two block solos and two block assists while freshman Libby Woffindin finished with seven kills and five block assists.
Defensively, senior libero #Kelsi Hoffman tallied 10 digs and three service aces. Senior setter Maureen Duvall# played a great all-around match against C.W. Post by finishing with six kills, one block assist and one block solo along with 34 assists and three digs.
In their third game of the Bob Chu Invitational, the Lady Raiders swept the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley to record Piscotty's milestone victory. Shippensburg recorded six team service aces during their straight-set win. Antolik had nine kills and two digs while freshman Katie Leitner had nine kills and two digs. Sorber added four kills and two block assists.
Duvall once again turned in a fine performance with 21 assists to go along with four digs. Freshman Caitlin Marshall finished with four digs.
In her fifth season as the Lady Raider head coach, Piscotty has compiled a 106-62 record. She will lead the Lady Raiders next week as they continue their PSAC Eastern division schedule with two important home games. On Tuesday, Shippensburg hosts Lock Haven at 7 p.m. from Heiges Field House, while the Lady Raiders host the Golden Bears of Kutztown at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
