Amy Fisher Earns Second Honorable Mention All-American Certificate at NCAA Championships

CANTON, Ohio - Junior Amy Fisher earned her second honorable mention All-American certificate at the 2010 Division II Swimming Championships during the fourth and final day of the competition for the Shippensburg University women’s swimming team from the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

Fisher was one of five PSAC competitors to achieve a point-scoring finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle by posting a time of 17:39.27. Overall, Shippensburg finished the four days of competition with a total of 19 points, an improvement of one place from last season.

In other competition, senior Whitney Garner recorded a time of 52.99 in the 100-yard freestyle while sophomore Nicole Capozzi finished in 53.79 seconds. Freshman Julia Brownrigg swam the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.71.

SU also competed in one relay on Saturday, as the 400-yard freestyle squad of Garner, Brownrigg, sophomore Kristen McCandless and Capozzi finished with a time of 3:35.62.
