Junior Amy Fisher Earns All-American Honors In 1000 Freestyle At DII National Championships

CANTON, Ohio - Junior Amy Fisher achieved All-American status in the 1,000-yard freestyle at the 2010 Division II Swimming Championships after recording a 15th-place finish with a time of 10:30.63. She was one of four PSAC swimmers to achieve All-American status in the event.

Sophomore Kristen McCandless also competed in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while other SU swimmers took to the pool in various events during the first day of competition. Freshman Julia Brownrigg competed in the 200-yard IM while senior Whitney Garner and sophomore Nicole Capozzi competed in the 50-yard freestyle.

According to the heat sheet, Shippensburg will be competing in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay on Thursday, while Fisher will swim in the 100-yard butterfly and McCandless and Garner will swim in the 200-yard freestyle.
