NEW YORK CITY - The men's 4x800-relay team of sophomore Ed Buck, Pio Mandato, senior Josh Neyhart and junior Matt Gelety destroyed the previous school record in the event to highlight of the second and final day of competition from the New Balance Games.

The quartet posted a stupendous time of 7:45.80 that is just three seconds short of the PSAC all-time record and 19 seconds faster than any other PSAC school this season. SU finished sixth in the event and outran squads from Arkansas, St. Francis and Seton Hall.

In the field, senior Donnie Graybill won the pole vault. He defeated competitors from schools such as Pitt, Duke and Texas A&M by clearing 16 feet, 2 inches (4.95 meters). Graybill is the first SU competitor to clear 16 feet since 1995 - his provisional mark and personal record ties him with two others for the fourth-best mark in Division II this season.

Freshman Matthew Terry had a dominant triple jump of 47 feet, 4 inches (14.44 meters) that is a new lifetime personal record and is the second-best performance to date in the PSAC. It is another NCAA provisional mark for SU and ranks 16th in Division II this season.

Three SU competitors ran the mile, but Buck paced the Red Raider trio with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:13.46. Sophomore Stephen Schelander ran the mile in 4:15.76 while Neyhart followed in 4:18.49.

Individually, Mandato ran the 800-meter event and posted a time of 1:58.19 - the exact time he recorded two weeks ago at the Bucknell Heptagonal. Freshman Matt Gillette improved his season-best 3K time by 20 seconds, posting a time of 8:33.76 that ranks second in the PSAC.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Kyle Raguz, junior Todd Phillips, freshman Marcus Line and sophomore Eric Wolfe finished in 3:21.60. The effort is the fastest yet this season in the PSAC and is an improvement of several seconds from their previous turn around the track.
