Post-Race Interview

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Shippensburg University distance medley relay squad of senior Mary Dell, senior Shannon Hare, junior Abby Huber and sophomore Neely Spence recorded an automatic qualifying berth for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night from Penn State University with a time of 11:25.16.

The Lady Raider quartet won the event, besting a Division I-laden field that included Ohio State, Connecticut, Buffalo and Tennessee. The performance was less than one second off the school record that was set last season when Shippensburg won the national championship with a meet record of 11:24.54. Friday's run was also more than 20 seconds faster than the automatic qualifying mark and actually served as a Division I provisional mark.

SU began two-day competition from Bucknell on Friday. The second day of competition at the Bucknell Open and Multi begins at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
