LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman wrestler
Keith Dahlheimer was named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week on Monday afternoon by conference officials after a breakthrough performance at the 2010 East Region Duals in which he recorded victories by fall in three of his four matches.
Dahlheimer was stellar at 197 pounds, finishing the weekend 3-1 and in his only loss he nearly edged the reigning Division II National Champion. Opening against Newberry's Keeno Griffin, Dahlheimer wrestled one of the most competitive matches of the night but came up short, 7-4. He rebounded with a victory by fall over Belmont Abbey's Tom McGee in 5:51.
On Saturday, Dahlheimer returned to the mat with a pin over Justin Hoover of St. Andrew's Presbyterian in just 36 seconds. However, his most important victory of the weekend came in the finale against Limestone. With Shippensburg trailing the Saints 18-10 heading into the final two bouts, Dahlheimer recorded a pin in 1:12 that set the stage for redshirt freshman
Tyler Zittle, who completed the come-from-behind victory over the region's number seven team with a major decision.
Overall, Dahlheimer has compiled a 9-7 record while wrestling at 184 and 197 pounds. He is tied with redshirt senior
Nate Nauroth for the team lead with six pins and earlier this season placed sixth at 184 pounds during the PSAC Championships.
