ROLLA, Mo. – Sophomore Courtney Steele added to her postseason honors on Thursday with an honorable mention selection to the 2009 Daktronics All-American Division II softball team. Steele was one of seven PSAC players voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Steele’s selection comes after finishing with a .385 batting average while belting eight home runs, 37 RBIs and 89 total bases during the 2009 season. A second-team All-PSAC selection at third base, Steele only struck out 13 times in her 148 at-bats and was the only player to hit a home run this season off the PSAC Central Pitcher of the Year, Kristen Erb.
Erb was selected as the All-American Pitcher of the Year while Kutztown first baseman Steph Denlinger was selected as Player of the Year, leading to a PSAC sweep of the top honors. The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
