LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Sophomore
Courtney Steele and junior
Lisamarie Ramagli were named to the 2009 Daktronics All-Atlantic Region softball squad on Wednesday afternoon after balloting was conducted by the region's sports information directors.
The selections are the second and third for the Lady Raider softball program over the last two seasons. Sophomore
Hope Cornell was a second-team selection last year.
Steele was selected to the region's first team and will move onto the national ballot after finishing with a .385 batting average while belting eight home runs, 37 RBIs and 89 total bases. A second-team All-PSAC selection at third base, Steele only struck out 13 times in 148 at-bats and was the only player to hit a home run this season off the PSAC Central Pitcher of the Year, Kristen Erb.
Ramagli matched her second-team All-PSAC selection at first base with a second-team all-region selection. She exercised outstanding plate discipline this season with 27 walks and a .431 on-base percentage while batting .313. She also started every game at her position and ranked third on the team with five home runs and 25 RBIs.
Lock Haven University's Kristin Erb and Kutztown's Steph Denlinger headlined the Atlantic Region team, as the two were named Region Pitcher and Player of the Year honors, respectively. The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
