AKRON, Ohio - The Shippensburg University women's swimming team is in 10th place after the first day of competition from the 2009 Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron at the Ocasek Natatorium.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of senior
Whitney Garner, sophomore
Nicole Capozzi, junior
Anna Kinard and freshman
Julia Brownrigg finished in eighth place with a time of 1:38.46.
The top individual finisher on the day was Garner, who finished the 50-yard freestyle in 12th place with a time of 24.28, an NCAA 'B' cut.
