SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University softball team and head coach Bob Brookens has announced its team captains for the 2010 season and confirmed an early signing to the recruiting class for the 2011 season. The team recently completed a busy fall schedule.

Shippensburg will be led in the 2010 season by a group of three captains: senior Lisamarie Ramagli, junior Jill Mullan and junior Hope Cornell. Also among the team's returning veterans include the team-voted 2008-09 most-valuable players - juniors Dana Ward and Courtney Steele.

"We have a tremendous group of starters returning in addition to one senior and five juniors that have been on the field since their freshmen year," Brookens said. "After a strong fall on the field and in the classroom they are ready to contend for the PSAC softball championship.

Highlighting this year's early-signing period for the Lady Raider softball team is Emily Estep, a highly touted pitcher from nearby Chambersburg High School. She has signed a national letter of intent (NLI) to play for Shippensburg beginning in 2011. Estep helped the Trojans win the Mid Penn Conference last season while posting a 15-3 record with a 0.85 earned-run average.
