It is the second consecutive year that Shippensburg has had multiple selections to the First Team squad. The field hockey program has had 18 unique All-Americans while under the direction of head coach Bertie Landes and has had 25 total selections since 1999.
Doughty was a valuable team leader and an outstanding forward who ranked third on the team with nine goals, a new career-high. She finished her career having made 59 starts and appearing in 73 total games. Overall, she has scored 21 goals, including four game-winners, and recorded 18 assists for a total of 60 points. She was also a three-time selection to the NFHCA Division II National Academic squad.
Houser patrolled the cage for more than 3,800 minutes of goaltending this season and compiled a 1.21 goals-against average and collected 296 saves for a save percentage of .818. In the regular season she led the nation with a 1.10 goals-against average and a save percentage of .854. She also helped captain a defense that totaled 13 shutouts this season - which is one short of a school record. She appeared in 64 career games and compiled an incredible 41-10 record with 17 individual shutouts to her credit.
Kristina Taylor, the PSAC Western Division Player of the Year, finished the season ranked second in Division II for goals (24) and also led Shippensburg with nine assists for a total of 57 points. She scored six game-winning goals this season and missed just one game due to injury, starting 22 of the team's 23 contests. Through two seasons, she has already become one of the Top 10 scorers in program history.
Ashley Taylor, the PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year, made an immediate impact as a shutdown defensive player who also has a knack for chipping in offensively. Taylor routinely swept up the left side of the field but also manned the point on penalty corners. She scored six goals and finished second on the team with seven assists while starting all 23 games this season.
Wooters injured her thumb in the PSAC Semifinals but was an exceptional all-around athlete who thrived in her final season. She played in 73 games over the course of her career with 29 starts. This season, Wooters scored three goals (including two game-winners) and ranked second on the team with six assists. For her career, she has totaled eight goals with 13 assists for 29 career points.
Overall, Shippensburg (20-3) concluded the 2009 campaign having matched the franchise record for victories in a season, a mark that was originally set in 2005. The Lady Raiders reached the national semifinals for the second consecutive season and recorded the program's second-ever victory in the Division II tournament.
