KUTZTOWN, Pa. - At the conclusion of the 2008 NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Softball Regional Tournament, Shippensburg freshman shortstop
Hope Cornell received an at-large spot on the Mid-Atlantic Region All-Tournament Team.
Cornell hit three doubles and drove in a run as the Lady Raiders defeated Slippery Rock on Thursday by a score of 4-0. She finished the tournament with four hits in 11 at-bats. For the season, Cornell led the team in home runs (eight), RBIs (39) and runs (32) while hitting .341 in 167 at-bats.
Shippensburg finished its season with a 28-27 record, marking the eighth consecutive year that the team has recorded 25 victories and the seventh consecutive season in which the Lady Raiders advanced to an NCAA regional postseason appearance, all under head coach Bob Brookens.
Cornell is one of 11 players that will return to next year's squad.
Lock Haven, the No. 1 ranked softball team in the nation, won its third consecutive NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional title with a 6-1 victory over Bloomsburg on Sunday.
