SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - For the 19th consecutive year, the Shippensburg University Department of Athletics and Shippensburg University Foundation will be holding the Lady Raiders Golf Tournament to benefit women's athletics. This year's event will be held Monday, June 23 at the Eagles Crossing Golf Club in Carlisle.
The Lady Raiders Golf Tournament was organized to raise funds to strengthen women's athletics at Shippensburg University. It is the largest fundraiser for the university's women's athletic programs. Proceeds from the tournament are used by Lady Raider athletic teams to provide scholarship opportunities for young women to participate in and gain a valuable experience through athletics.
Those interested can help by playing a round of golf and/or by financially supporting us as a sponsor. Please see the above brochure for more information about each available sponsorship level.
The cost is $85 per player which includes green fees, cart, driving range, lunch and steak dinner. There is a limit of 128 players so registrations will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
The tournament format is a four-person scramble with three flights. No handicaps are included and mulligans are available for $5 each (max of four). Team and door prizes will be awarded to men and women for the longest drive and closest to the pin as well as for other course contests.
Shippensburg University sponsors 11 women's athletic teams in basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Since 2000, those teams have accounted for nine conference championships, including a PSAC Eastern Division title in volleyball and a PSAC indoor championship in track and field this year.
All totaled, the women's athletic teams at Shippensburg have accounted for 23 conference championships since 1983.
