GRANTHAM, Pa. - Freshman Nicholas Browne recorded three falls and red-shirt junior Jon Hade totaled a pin and a major decision as the Raider wrestlers earned three victories on Saturday at Messiah College to improve their dual meet record this season to 3-0-1.

Shippensburg opened with a 28-10 victory over Elizabethtown before earning 27-9 wins over Lycoming and Messiah. The Raiders only dropped three matches in each dual meet and totaled five major decisions as a team.

Browne delivered a showcase performance with his first pin over Elizabethtown's Mike Lussier in 2:29. Against Lycoming, Browne took down Clinton Gardner in 3:50 and capped off his virtuoso performance with a pin of Messiah's Matt Cross in 3:28. Browne is now 5-5 this season.

Hade began his day with a pin of Elizabethtown's Anthony DiMarco in 1:44 that vaulted Shippensburg to a 28-0 lead in the opening match. He followed with a shutout of Lycoming's Russell Korbul, 6-0, and concluded with an 11-3 major decision over Messiah's Tim Stewart.

Saturday's performance earned Hade his first three victories of the year and capped off a comeback from a head injury he sustained in his opening match at the Binghamton Open where he had to injury default.

Red-shirt sophomore Chris Barrick completed another durable weekend performance and continued his unbeaten streak with a technical fall and a major decision among three victories. After opening with a 5-1 decision over Elizabethtown's Paul Connor, Barrick defeated Lycoming's Daniel Snyder 15-0 and Messiah's Trent Zempel 13-4 to improve his record to 8-0.

Senior Jake Wilson had to battle some of the best wrestlers the opponents had to offer on Saturday and emerged with two hard-fought decisions. Wilson edged Elizabethtown's Jereme Heisey 4-2 and Messiah's Arthur Milner 3-1 to improve his record to 5-3. 

Red-shirt freshman Bryce Marshall delivered a solid performance in his first action at 133 pounds. Bumping up a weight class due to some team injuries, Marshall earned a 6-4 decision over Elizabethtown's Marty Harnish and then defeated Lycoming's Eric Grecco, 4-3, for his first two victories of the season.

Newcomer Tom Wiechelt also bumped up weight classes and recorded a 14-5 major decision over Lycoming's Zachary Frederick among his two victories at 149 pounds.

Freshman Taylor Knight earned two more victories at heavyweight, freshman Kasey Lyon recorded a 15-2 major decision over Messiah's Dando Spears, while freshman Colton McFatridge earned a 12-0 major decision against Lycoming's James Couturiaux.

The Raider grapplers will condition for a couple of days before Thanksgiving break and then return for the PSAC Wrestling Championships on Saturday, December 6 from Mercyhurst College.
